Sabres Fall in Boston, 3-1

Jhonas Enroth got the start in goal for the Sabres tonight, and he played well, keeping Buffalo in the game for most of the night. It wasn’t enough.

Despite the game being tied after two periods of play, the Bruins rallied and scored a pair of late third period goals to secure the game by a 3-1 score.

Buffalo only managed to score once on Tim Thomas, and the Sabres left Boston empty handed.

Johnny Boychuk ripped a shot that found its way past four Sabres players and the goaltender to put the Bruins up 2-1 late in the third period. Boychuk’s 4th goal of the season turned out to be the game-winning goal.

David Krejci added an insurance goal with just over four minutes remaining, but the Sabres weren’t able to beat Thomas anymore.

The Bruins goaltender finished the night with 19 saves on 20 shots. In a losing effort, Enroth allowed three goals on 28 shots.

The Sabres did get on the board first with a blast from Jason Pominville that beat Tim Thomas. The Bruins would respond, but not until late in the second period, when Gregory Campbell deflected a shot past Enroth to knot the game at one.

Thomas Vanek left the game and did not return after getting checked by Boychuk.

Tyler Ennis was a team worst -3 tonight.

The Sabres remain two points back of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference, but that can change as Winnipeg is playing the Canucks on the west coast.

The Sabres will head to Ottawa to take on the Senators Saturday night. That game is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
