The Buffalo Sabres have announced their schedule for their annual development camp...
Ron Rolston named Interim Head Coach
The Buffalo Sabres have officially named Rochester Americans head coach Ron Rolston as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season, making him the 16th head coach in franchise history.
Rolston, 46 years old, was currently in his second season as the head coach of the Americans.
In his two seasons with the Americans, Rolston amassed a record of 63-44-17 in 124 games.
Ron Rolston is known for his great ability to develop young players, mostly in part due to his successful seven-year stint as head coach with the United States National Team Developmental Program.
In those seven seasons, Rolston led the program to five medals and multiple tournament championships. During his tenure, Rolston became the only coach in the program’s history to win three gold medals.
Throughout the past two seasons, Rolston has overseen the development of Sabres prospects such as Marcus Foligno, T.J. Brennan, Brayden McNabb, and Zemgus Girgensons, to name a few.
On a personal note, Rolston is the older brother of ex-NHL forward Brian Rolston.
