Battle For 8th Tonight vs. Capitals

This is it. What more could you ask for? The Sabres have chased the Capitals for the past few weeks during their improbable run, and are now tied at 84 points apiece.

With six games remaining in the regular season, the Sabres take on a team they have beat two out of three times this season, but this one may be the biggest of them all.

The winner of tonight’s matchup will be in 8th place. The Sabres have won four straight games, outscoring its opponents 17-5. Buffalo haven’t lost in regulation since Mar. 8th vs. Boston.

 ”I don’t think I have to sell anything,” Ruff told the Buffalo News Monday afternoon before the team departed for D.C. “They know where they’re at. They understand where we can get to and how big the two points is. I shouldn’t have to sell it this time of year.” – NHL.com

The Capitals are one of the best home teams in the Conference with a 24-10-4 record, while the Sabres are 17-18-2 on the road.

“It’s an exciting time of year, obviously a very important game and guys know this,” Brouwer said. “We had a good showing (Sunday) night against Minnesota but we’re playing a pretty tough team that’s playing really well. We feel that this (Tuesday’s game) is going to be a very big determination whether we’re going to make the playoffs.” – NHL.com
