Repeat Performance as Miller Earns Another Shutout

Rate this post

After defeating Anaheim 2-0 Thursday night, Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres picked up right where they left off.

Miller may have performed even better during Friday’s 1-0 shutout in San Jose as the Sabres defeated the Sharks. Miller has earned 82 saves in the past two games and has helped his team inch closer to the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference.

Drew Stafford’s goal in the first period put Buffalo up 1-0 and marked the 8th consecutive game in which the Sabres have scored first.

“One goal was enough for us tonight because of the way [Miller] played,” Drew Stafford said.

The Sabres improved to 20-0-2 when leading after two periods of play.

The third period seemed to be the Sabres’ weakest part of the game in both of the past two nights. The Ducks recorded 20 shots on Thursday and the Sharks had 17 on Friday.

With the win, the Sabres have moved to within four points of the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference. Buffalo trail the Jets by four but do have a pair of games in hand and a meeting against them on Monday.

In his last six, Miller is 5-0-1 with a .965 SV% and a 1.34 GAA

The Sabres will next play on Saturday in Vancouver when they take on the Canucks. Christian Ehrhoff and  Cody Hodgson will face their former team. Zack Kassian and Marc-Andre Gragnani will be doing the same. That game is scheduled for 10 p.m. EST.
