Sabres Routed in Philadelphia
A 2-0 lead for Buffalo meant nothing by the end of this match. The Flyers scored seven unanswered goals to rout the Sabres at the Wells Fargo Center Thursday night in Philadelphia.
Claude Giroux led the Flyers with five assists as his team won for just the second time in the past seven games.
Scott Hartnell finished the night with a goal and three assists.
With the loss, the Sabres have dropped three straight games and a spot in the playoffs is looking more and more bleak.
The Flyers exploded with four goals in the second period, and three in the third. Wayne Simmonds collected a pair of power play goals almost three minutes a part in the second period.
Jhonas Enroth was pulled in the second period after allowing three goals on 18 shots. Ryan Miller came in, but didn’t do much better.
Miller finished the night with 13 of 17 saves.
At the other end, Ilya Bryzgalov recovered after allowing two goals in the first 10 minutes of the opening period.
Jason Pominville and Thomas Vanek collected the pair of Sabres goals.
Buffalo finished 0-6 on the power play while the Flyers went 2-3 with the man advantage.
The Sabres will now head back home to begin a four game homestand. The first will be against Montreal tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. at the First Niagara Center.

A painfully bad effort tonite after leading 2-0 thru 20 minutes. Completely quit out there. This is going to be the game that will probably….hopefully….end some jobs in the front office and on the bench
