Debate: Tootoo hit on Miller
If you haven’t seen the hit from Saturday’s game, you definitely need to take a look. Jordin Tootoo ran Ryan Miller and made little or no effort to avoid contact.
“I was driving the net and I got a little shove from behind,” Tootoo said. “That’s the last thing I want to do is run the goalie over and put my team down. Clearly I tried to jump out of the way. There was no intent to charge at him.”

Loading ...Tootoo does have history with suspensions. He received one a few years back, in 2007, for sucker punching Stephane Robidas, who suffered a concussion. Here’s a look at it:

The problem for Shanahan (and it’s a problem of his own making) is that the Lucic hit was actually worse so he (Shanahan) is damed if he does and damned if he doesn’t. If he does suspend, it looks like favoritism towards Boston (there’s a shattering glimpse of the obvious, not to mention it would be very inconsistent. If he doesn’t, then it looks like Lindy’s correct when he says that it’s open season on goalies……that said, I suspect Tootoo will get suspended because Shanahan’s on the hot seat now, plus compared to Lucic, Tootoo is a nobody. That’s the NHL for you.
I do love all the comments on the internet from Preds fans and others who claim that leaving his feet is proof positive Tootoo never intended to hit Miller. LOL

You shouldn’t be suspended for being an aggressive hockey player..Looks to me like 10 should have been given a cross checking and Miller a roughing penalty…But–this is Jordin Tootoo so he will probably be suspended.

Maybe Randi/ Ryan should stop playing hockey and start playing online uno, that way noboby can see them crying like babies.
this should only have been a 2 min. so i guess it should have been a 2 min PK to Nash.

Stop your crying! This hit and the Lucic hit are completely different. This hit involves a goalie in his crease and will be a 3-5 game suspension, as it should be. DESPITE the fact that Erhoff PUSHED Tootoo in the back toward Miller (watch the video without your blue/yellow blinders), Erhoff even lost his stick and glove in the process. At least your team showed a little sack in the response on the ice. Did Miller go crying to the press like Lindy Ruff after the game, I missed his comments. Because you know, it’s important to stick around to call another player a piece of sh__!

Actually if you watched the same video I did, erhoff didnt cross check he was trying to push tootoo away from the goal but tootoo realized he didnt have the puck and made a bee-line for miller. So the way erhoff was pushing him tootoo caught his arms and that’s how he lost his things.

In all honesty I’d like to see a 10 game suspension for it. But Shanahan being a jackass as he is nothing will happen most likely because they’ll claim Ehrhoff pushed him into Miller

Shannahan should have sent a clear message with the Lucic play; but he didn’t so I have no faith that he will this time either. I, personally, think that hockey should go back to old school where players policed the game. If you took a run at the goalie or if you had a dirty hit on a star player, you had your @$$ handed to you. Just sayin’…..

also, even if Tootoo argues he was trying to move, and we believe him, why did he lead with his elbow? is a clear elbow to the head and its clearly intentional. whether the initial contact was intentional is irrelevant to the fact that tootoo aims deliberately for millers head

No effort wasmade to avoid contact. Erhoff didn’t push him. Also, he lost the puck early enough he could have gone behind the net.and third, considering the circumstances, that could be interpreted as intent to injure which is an automatic suspension. 5 is fair, but he’s luckyif he doesn’t get more

to to should recieve at least 5 games .5 games should be at the very least.i also think the next goalie to be run the offender should get 10 games. then the next player to run a goalie should receive15 games.brandon its time to start makeing a statement with suspentions like this and stop all the goalie running.being an ex player you should be able to detect accidental contact andrunnig goalie’s.it’s really time to take this minor league play out of our game.thank you big sabre fan in wasaga beach ontario.

There’s a huge difference between the Lucic hit and the Tootoo hit. The latter was committed while Ryan was in his crease. B. Shanaan has to suspend Tootoo at least 4 games. Anyhing less will show what a joke the NHL is in protecting every player on every team equally.

Definitely not as intentional as Lucic hit, but I think with backlash from Lucic hit and the threat of this becoming a future problem to goalies NHL should suspend TooToo for 2-3 games to send a message. That would be the smart thing, but then again it is Shanahan so anything goes lol

0. He did run Miller but it’s not worthy of a suspension
