Miller Chased In 3-2 Loss to Flyers

Rate this post

Let the goaltending controversy begin. Ryan Miller’s weak performance Wednesday night against Philadelphia prevented the Sabres from a victory. Down 3-0, the Sabres battled back, but still lost, 3-2 on home ice once again.

Ryan Miller allowed three goals on 11 shots and was pulled less than seven minutes into the opening period. Jhonas Enroth came in and stopped all 15 shots he faced, giving the Sabres a chance for a comeback.

Andrej Sekera scored his first goal of the season, getting the Sabres on the board. In the third, Luke Adam banked in his fourth goal of the season off of a Flyers defenseman.

Thomas Vanek missed almost an entire period after having to get stitches, but assisted on Adam’s goal the first shift back.

Although they fell short, the Sabres played better in the second half of the game than the Flyers did. Buffalo outshot Philadelphia 23-12 in the final two periods, but couldn’t beat Ilya Bryzgalov to tie the game in the dying seconds.

The power play unit had its chances, but went 0-5 on the night. The penalty kill did its part, succeeding on all three attempts.

The Sabres dropped to 6-5 on the year and sit in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. The Flyers improved to 7-4-1 and are now fourth in the Conference.

The Sabres have gone 1-3 during the current five game homestand and will finish it off on Friday against Calgary. It’s not yet known who will get the start in net, but Enroth and Miller will likely each play one game this weekend.

  1. A little late is right. They showed up for the game a little late. I’m sure Miller appreciates all the support he got. Great pass from Myers and Leopold to start the Flyers scoring!

Fire Ruff, now. Don’t wait until the end of the season when it’s too late. The players aren’t the problem, he is.
